WHAT AIRPORT CAN I FLY TO TO TRAVEL TO SIENA?
If you fly into Florence Airport, you can transfer to Siena with a shuttle bus, the ticket costs €3.10, it leaves every hour from the airport terminal. You can also take a taxi (the journey costs around €15) to the central station of Florence (Florence Santa Maria Novella, Florence SMN). At the Florence airport you have a very extensive service with several car rental companies where you can hire a car that will allow you to travel to Siena quickly.
SIENA TRAIN STATION
The train takes about an hour and a half from Florence to Siena and runs frequently every day. If you arrive from Pisa you may need to change trains at Empoli. The train line that connects to Rome is somewhat more uncomfortable and not as frequent: you have to change trains in Chiusi.
Siena’s train station is 1.5 kilometers from the historic city center. The route is almost all uphill. Tickets can be purchased online, by credit card or through electronic vending machines in major cities such as Rome, Milan and Rome.
